Get ready for deflation. The "financeirization" of commodities had a direct impact in the consumer. A ton of wheat as negotiated at BRL850, now it is being negotiated at BRL550. That drop has not yet reached the bread, the analyst says.

In the calculations of FIPE (the Brazilian foundation for economic research) break went up 30,4% in the last 12 months when versus an inflation of 6%.

Fipe indicates however that the rate of price increase is coming down. In April was 9% and in the last weeks 0,25%.
That is the shape of things to come, other products already star falling soy cooking oil dropped 0,26% in July but accumulates a 53% increase in the last 12 months.

All pointing to deflation...

Meanwhile, over in Indonesia and Malaysia, folks are flipping out about plummeting palm oil prices. The key cash crop has cratered by about 40% since early March. Both countries are now talking about setting up biofuel mandates to combat crushing oil import costs and support local farmers. Last week, Indonesia said it's likely to propose transportation-fuel-blending minimums of 1% and 3% for biodiesel and ethanol, respectively.
