Georgians are, like many Russians, not good at Russian. However, Russian is a kind of lingua franca, like English, so if you want to reach a big audience, Russian and English are the obvious choices. My guess is, that the young Georgians want to learn English instead of Russian, just like everybody else in east Europe. Most people think that Russians are nice people, but the Russian language represents oppression, gulag, language suppression, mind control, corrupt politicians, lying newspapers, invasions, an army out of control and death to many people, and the current Russian government isn't good at changing that. They prefer the meanness (quote: Pravda.ru) from USA, that says "Russia should respect international law" and "We need to support the government that the people have elected".
