Hi J F,

you are giving it a good go, but talking to folks on this thread about the need for energy independence and the need to diversify beyond oil is like banging your head against a wall. The only solution they see is oil. So they don't understand why it might be important for us to be oil independent in the first place, because they don't see the connection between our oil dependency and all of our economic and national security problems. Additionally, they don't understand that our government can and should accelerate our progress towards oil independence through taxation of oil and it's derivatives and providing incentives for alternatives, because they won't acknowledge that our greatest industries, such as the tech industry, have been and continue to be incubated through a virtuous partnership between government, universities and industry.

We have a lot of misguided, misinformed, and naive folks on this thread.

As they say the cure for high prices is high prices.

The past year illustrates that people respond to price incentives.
