It is basic economics at work. Price goes up, demand goes down.

Why are you complaining? You want conservation. This is conservation, working precisely as many of us have told you it would for years. Prices go up, people use less gas.

Some people are just determined to make themselves miserable. Get on with your life, man. Don't waste it wringing your hands over something that will take care of itself.

The big rise in inflation left consumers even more squeezed. The Labor Department said that average weekly earnings, after adjusting for inflation, fell by 3.1 percent in July compared to a year ago, the biggest year-over-year decline since November 1990.
