The CIA, around the time they were trying kill him, also decided that he would have much less charisma without the beard. So they developed some shoes as well as a cigar that contained Thallium used as a depilatory which were to make him lose his beard. Castro was a SCUBA diver, and they also prepared a fungus-infected diving suit which was to give him skin disease and eventually, TB. They also had an LSD-laced cigar that was to be administered before he gave one of his 4-hour speeches, which was to make him seem even crazier. All ideas that failed, but they did get to the point of actually developing all these items. They were awfully worried about getting rid of Castro.
