I've often wondered Pres. Bush choose Iraq because Saddam tried to execute his father?

Sandy, don't believe that leftist lie..... Strategically and historically invading Iraq made the most sense if we were going to invade any country in the ME. Try and remember the long history that Saddam had of ignoring all diplomatic means that were attempted to reign him in, the humanitarian reasons ie. gassing his own citizens, did you forget that he and his henchmen were murdering @300,000 people a year? The ME stability reasons.....cripes, I could go on but what's the point.

GW probably remembered that attempt on his dad's life along with a large stack of other valid reasons to oust Hussein. Limiting the war must've been the principal reason Iraq was chosen. The other Islamic nations didn't flock to defend Hussein because he had been a thorn in their sides as well. As lorne stated, the US would've ignited a war with all Islamic nations if they chose almost any other country in the ME, other than Iraq.
