Absolutely amazing. Ignore the fact that socialism has failed more often than not. "Middle-class welfare state"? What a great way to ensure that class mobility is killed forever.

It's an interesting perspective... and he might be right about how the Dems can maintain power.

As for "socialism has failed more often than not" I think he is talking more about European-style socialism, which has been fairly successful. Even the parts adopted here have been fairly successful. If you get past your revulsion with the word "socialism" you might see that.

Heaven forbid that the government should do what the people want. What do they think this is? A democracy?
