Agreed but this is exactly the point - giving in to Russia will mean to Iran to insist in producing nuclear weapons and Russia will support them - so then what?

Every one with nuclear weapon will extort his way - this will never end. Think of China or India or Pakistan etc. each with its own interest

IMHO Russia has more to lose than gain by playing their pride card - Putin must be forced to buckle then his people will kick him out - it is now also a power game in the Kremlin between two groups of oligarchs - pay attention to Russia internal matter you will see based on Putin statements etc.
