my speculation is much more sinister than any one thinks and I will line it out in summary. TO understand what I write please pull out a map of the region of Georgia Armenia and Azrerbaijan. Remember that Armenia is at war with Azerbaijan and detest any contact with Turkey. Therefore all outside contacts of Armenia with the outside world is trough Georgia the only two Christian countries in the region. Armenia do have friendly relation with Iran and more so with Russia, and Armenians are almost forgotten by Europe and the US. As Armenia is landlocked and cut off by the Russian Army which took over or destroyed all transportation infrastructures in Georgia, Armenia is doomed. They will have no choice but to call the Russian army for help and assistance to have access to the free world. There is no question that Russia will obey in a hearth beat to help their “brothers" to the south. This will flank out and force into isolation Azerbaijan and indirectly Turkmenistan with its huge NG reserves of which part where planed to be shipped trough Nabucco. Azerbaijan feeling threaten, and for sure Armenia feeling overly secure will intensify skirmishes and even transgression into Azerbaijan which upon local custom will force Azerbaijan to react militarily or face internal unrest. This reaction of Azerbaijan will fall directly into Russians great plan and enable the attack by the Russian Army of Azerbaijan to defend their new ally Armenia, and who knows who else. Bingo – Putin plan accomplished – Russia takes over all the Caspian sea resources and blocks any commercial route out of Central Asia to the free world. Iran gaining confidence from the occurrence will declare having a nuclear device and threaten its neighbors into submission – and also exercising it’s rights over the Hormuz straits via Qushm / Khammasi Island Oil goes to 200 or more and the rest will be history – as for sure WWIII will commence That is why Georgia is now so important IMHO and Russia’s aspiration MUST BE STOPPED or the world will be faced WWIII after being substantially weaken
