Which "experts" did I cite anonymously and I will see if I can clarify it for you. How's that? You didn't cite a single new story. Actually, I did. But they're all over the place -- not hard to find -- this is from NYT -- "When Mr. Obama was overseas last month, Mr. McCain’s foreign policy bona fides seemed diminished, if only because he could not attract the news media attention received by Mr. Obama, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee. Now, Mr. Obama’s voice seems muted at a time when much of the world has been worriedly watching the conflict. ... For his part, Mr. McCain has fielded questions daily, batting back criticism that his tough stance is reminiscent of the language of the cold war. On the other hand, the fluency with which Mr. McCain, the presumed Republican presidential nominee, discusses Georgia, citing the history of the region and the number of times he has visited, lends an aura of commander in chief. nytimes.com This, from the extremist liberal NYT, mind you. I pointed out the disparity between the two positions at the time of their initial statements and you said "they're the same". Yet, AP, Reuters, NYT, CBS, ALL have had stories discussing how Obama has moved toward McCain's position over time. The reality is you can dig up a link that supports any position. And this is your favorite tactic -- not long ago, when asked to support a position, THE ONLY LINK you could produce was in freaking German or something. And you, without the slightest embarrassment, posted it. Better to just admit being wrong. Right. And that was started well before 9/11. Uh, not really. Not with modern technology (previously, there was x-raying/CT Scanning of baggage). Also, before 9/11, most domestic luggage was not scanned (international flights were). By the end of '02 all baggage was scanned, but not by modern day explosive detection equipment. Late in '04 modern day Explosive Trace Detection equipment was installed in the first half of the major US airports, followed by the others shortly thereafter. Could more be done? Of course. But to claim that air travel isn't safer today (WRT terrorists) is just silly. If you want to talk about ridiculous security processes, the biggest thing that could be done is to eliminate the ridiculous ban on profiling.
