This is a good way of putting it.

Bill Joy (former chief scientist at Sun) is a really smart guy.

But during the 2000 elections, his liberalism caused him to say, "If your life depended on the measurement of a single ballot, would you prefer it be read by a machine, or examined carefully by three different human beings?"

Now, obviously, the answer to the question is "Yes". But it was carefully constructed to elicit the response he wanted the reader to have. Obviously, inspecting a single ballot is one thing, but if my life depends on inspecting 100,000s or 1,000,000s of ballots I sure as hell don't want them inspected manually, one by one. And there are 50 other reasons, as well. But he is a smart guy who either intentionally or unintentionally made a blatant misrepresentation.

Smart people aren't always able to see past their own biases.

CJ is intelligent but not very wise.

Wisdom comes to the blessed ones with age only.

Pretty sure CJ has a few years to go.

Ted, > Its very hard to insult CJ's intelligence.

CJ is intelligent but not very wise.

He sounds wise to me. Why don't you think he's very wise?
