dybdahl.

Thanks for your thoughts. You know, you're right, I mean I know many Americans, and I think I understand their culture, because we are very exposed to it in Canada. Of course, I know many Europeans and several Russians as well.

And while I've read a lot of Russian history, I can't say I "know" what it's like to live in Russian society at present. And I don't believe I've ever known someone from Georgia, and know very little about their culture.

((The Russians are currently perceived as dangerous, because most Russians only read Russian news, which is oppressed and doesn't show the full story, and the Russian government seems to make decisions based on this, disregarding international cooperation. ... However, the Americans have a similar problem))

I wonder if Haim and myself, in our discussion, really feel very similarly? If we share the same anger at imperialism, torture, lying, and hypocricy - but we've each had very different experiences of it. Therefore, I tend to zero in on the hypocricies, greed, and propaganda of my own culture, and the lies we tell ourselves about our world? And Haim, feeling very similarly, but his experience had suffering has much more lay with the actions of what is to me "the Other", that is the Russians.

Hmm, I think I will have to think further about the matter.

Thanks for posting,
Glenn
