You don't know?!!! Are you suggesting that Texas is dry????

No, I'm telling you I don't know what TX's proven oil reserves are and don't feel interested enough to look it up.

As to your definition of reserves - "its limit" - that is not known by anybody.

"But back to Denmark - what is the matter with those stupid Danes anyway? Why are such share the pain socialist types (willing to ride bikes to work in the rain) foolish enough to develop their offshore oil reserves?"

That answer is so obvious even the dumbest among us can answer it

And yet you couldn't answer it.

.... But as I told you, Denmark is energy independent..
Yes, they've (foolishly) developed their offshore oil reserves and are an oil exporter.

And their standard of living is at least the equal of ours...

Oh its much higher. They ride bikes to work in the rain because they like to. Economic necessity caused by $10 gasoline has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Denmark is energy independent..

They import coal

And their standard of living is at least the equal of ours...

List of countries by GDP (PPP) per capita

US 6th, Denmark 14th

Also the point is now who has a better standard of living but how Denmark's standard of living is effected by these policies, and even more importantly how the US's would be effected.

If Japan tried to be energy independent in a relatively short time frame, it would devastate their economy, but they would still likely have a better (probably much better) standard of living than say India, would that amount to an argument that India should try for "energy independence"? Hardly.

Man.. if I lived in a small country like Denmark, I could walk from coast to coast in a day...
