Haim.

I want to sincerely thank-you for your last post. It rings of truth.

You know, it's quite bizarre really. But my story is not so different, but then again it's totally different. I too feel very betrayed by my society. I feel betrayed because I was raised to believe that newspapers reported the truth, and that my society, and perhaps more importantly the US - which is such an overwhelming presence in our world - genuinely aspired to bring about positive change in the world.

And then somehow, I don't know, 9-11 happened, and something seemed very strange. I had this deep sense that something was profoundly wrong. I did a lot of reading, and questioned a lot of fundamental assumptions, and I came to believe, and still believe, that the US government at the highest levels was complicit in 9-11.

Then somehow I stumbled into the world of "deep politics", and elements of what one might call "repressed" or "suppressed" history, and I realized that governments that act in my name - or the name of my people - had been complicit in wars and foreign escapades that had absolutely nothing to do with making the world a decent place for all its citizens to inhabit. Quite the contrary, it seemed that in many cases it was really about greed and power. And that this has been going on for what seems forever.

And then I started to understand how deep and subtle the propaganda ran. I started to read about the various CIA operations - Project Mockingbird and MKUltra - whereby the US intelligence agencies infiltrated newsrooms across North America, and ultimately the very sanctity of a person's mind. For their experimental victims, they would rely on the most vulnerable and weak in our society.

I think at this point Haim - which has really only happened to me in the past several years - I became almost viscerally ill at the common media discourse. Particularly with American media, it's almost unbearable. It bears such little resemblance to truth, what passes for news in the US is more like an infomercial.

I think this has actually led me to project onto the "Other" nobler intentions than they might otherwise have. Perhaps Haim, we have a situation where two global mafias are battling out in a global turf war. I mean maybe that's what it's all come down to. How incredibly sad.

Well, I'm now totally bummed. I think I'll go to bed.

Thank-you again Haim for so patiently explaining your point-of-view. I think I learned something through our dialogue today.

Best wishes,
Glenn

During my early years I was brought up in believing that the USA was the most wonderful majestic nations in the world striving for a benevolent hegemony seeking the betterment of all countries

I concur I was naïve but those beliefs were far from being etched in my consciousness. I started trying to discover the truth behind the image.

I believe it was simplistic to look to the US only to its propaganda machine.

Today I take the US as I take any country: they are not against or in favor of anyone. They are just trying to do what they think what is the best for their own self interest.

They are not good. They are not bad. Just seeking the advantages for their own people.

It is naive for the satellites of the former USSR to believe the US is sugar daddy under which wings they could go hide. That belief in a sugar daddy was the reason why they engaged in Iraq adventure while the other countries -that know the true face of the US- did no follow that lead.

Georgia now is faces its rude awakening. Do not take sugar daddy...One day Australia and New Zealand will have theirs...
