Except for a very small number who are disadvantaged, America is a place where ANYONE who chooses to can get ahead and become wealthy. I would argue with the 'chooses to', but otherwise you are correct that it is possible to move from the lowest to the highest economic quin tile, however unlikely. But that's al;so true in any western country... even true in China. What we need to work on is raising the wages of the bottom 1/3 of the country... even if it means lowering the wages of the top 1/3. A flatter wage scale makes for a stronger country, both socially and economically.
