What does it do to affect the balance? Do you see Russia pulling their troops out of Georgia because of it? The fact that Russia is against it doesn't mean a whole lot. News Flash -- there is NOTHING that can happen now to cause Putin to back out. That cat is out of the bag. The mistake was when the Europeans didn't listen to Bush and move to allow these states into NATO. That would have prevented Russia's actions. However, when you install missile defense in surrounding countries, you make Putin pay a price for his actions. He hasn't been permitted to walk away with the entire package. And he is likely to give up G8 status, WTO status, and who knows what else. As I said this isn't over.
