He took Rick Warren at his word. I would have done the same. It was Warren that put his reputation on the line and failed.

There is no way that when Obama was interviewed that McCain was completely devoid of listening the conversation. Does anybody in the right mind believe that McCain would just be willing to sit in a vacuum room for an hour? How gullible is Rick Warren? ANd how could Obama agree to that format?

I start losing faith in Obama. He is not as street smart as I think.

Manalagi, sometimes I just don't know where you are at but let's put this whole Saddleback thing in perspective:

It was a Saturday during the dog days of summer when most people if not on vacation were out enjoying the last days of summer before school starts. For that reason, I am sure Obama saw it as a throwaway. It was his way of getting McCain off his back about hooking up.....this was one way of doing that without having to go through a big debate that would garner far more attention for McCain. Lastly, I saw clips of McCain's interview. The right is chirping because he made no huge errors.....except for that $5 million income for the rich gaffe that his campaign now is trying to pass off as a joke.........and not because he was brilliant. So frankly, I don't know what the big deal is. In a week, it will be all forgotten IMO.

Manalagi, it would have been insulting( and damaging politics to boot) to Warren for Obama to not accept his word that McCain would be safely ensconced in a "cone of silence" as he also assured the viewers..

McCain is making a big mistake here, imo..if not for the media, people like Andrea Mitchell, being seduced by him, he'd be a garden variety miserable husband of an heiress who doles out his daily allowance based on fulfilling that elusive "checklist"....
