It's certainly good to speak more than one language and have some experience of foreign countries beyond the tourist resorts. Especially, for people without a lot of imagination to understand what they are reading or seeing in film really means in real life . I've lived in 4 countries, visited about 25. I'm usually not very surprised when I visit somewhere as I have a good idea what it is like already. Next up is China and Hong Kong later this year. Going to visit my parents in law in Tianjin look around Beijing etc. and stop off in Hong Kong on the way back.
