And I'm not sure, but I think rental agencies retire their vehicles at about 25 thou miles? Is that right?

edit: I saw your post to alansmithee, and so you don't need to respond since you already answered the question.

I don't have a problem buying a used car with that low of miles that has been maintained properly. I imagine I'd have to get on a waiting list, so it would probably behoove me to get to know my local rental agency personnel long before I buy.

Do they auction them or???

Having been in the car business for years you are on the right track. Your also right in that those cars are well maintained. Even if the occasional renter abused the car it's not enough to really hurt the thing over the long haul. It makes 0 sense IMO to pay for new when you can buy current model year for close to half.
