Question is:

Is high HDL a cause for longevity?...or, an effect from some other characteristic that simply results in high HDL...the body has many variables...

a rhetorical question I suppose...would be difficult to answer

I don't think there is any worry on the upper limit.

I've recently seen a warning for kidney stones over 2000 IU. I will stick with 2000, having just experienced the kidney stone nightmare.
