The US federal government will see tax receipts continue to fall -- and the states will face the same. Look at California for example coming up $20 billion short. Governments will borrow more -- and they will be forced to raise taxes. We no longer borrow for fun -- we borrow to survive. And the harder it is for us to survive the more we will borrow. The fate of the dollar is sealed. The burden of the Iraq war is just another rock in the sack. And that rock will not be lighter as the troops come home and have a trillion dollars in medical needs and another half trillion to rebuild depleted equipment stockpiles.
