Barack is an uppity negro posted by MJSOL 07/30/2008 07:28:45 PM EST I have been yelling it at the television and the computer for a while now. All this talk about Barack being 'arrogant' and 'cocky.' Even 'too cool for school.' Yesterday on Hardball, a representative from Ebony/Jet kind of said it: That black men are often held to a different standard when it comes to confidence, just as women are considered bitchy (Hi Hillary) when they are aggressive and ambitious. That somewhat calmed me down, but today Mike Barnacle and other media outlets are still playing on the Barack is presumptuous theme. So why are we letting them get away with this. It's not presumptuous to bellow, "I know how to win wars?" Barack is being attacked on the same ground that most successful African Americans have faced in their lives. Uppity.
