>>>s much as people now hate Greenspan<<<

Most(97%?)of the public have no clue of his part in this mess.
Your second idea is right on the mark. Greenie is more of a celebrity now. He could get caught banging a three legged camel under the bleachers of Mile High Stadium and America would flock to buy his sports drink.

The endorsement can only help him as he continues to hang in the race.

I would normally agree with that logic, given the quality of comprehension in the electorate.

However, the date on that endorsement was back in April.

Since it appears that some of the folks here, who I consider to be pretty current on such things, seem surprised by that tidbit, I doubt that Joe6Pack, who is currently enthralled with Phelps, Nastia and LeBron, will have much interest in anything as boring as the economic future of the country thru the filter of candidate advisors.

And I doubt that the McCain camp will send up any reminders of the Greenspan blessing....

The truth remains though that team of Greenspan and Gramm will probably just quietly wait for their chance to get back at the controls if the GOP somehow manages to steal another one.

The endorsement was in April and no one mentioned it until now.
