I don't think they ever have had it together. Always a distant third behind Fox and CNN. They probably make outrageous statements to garner viewer ship; that may work for a show like The View, but not for any serious news channel.

Why should they?
After all, they get their news from NBC who gets their news from the NYTimes, who gets their news from the DNC who gets their news from any bum on the street who claims to be a reliable source.

MSNBC : For some reason when I turned on the TV yesterday, it happened to be on MSNBC

If you turned on the TV and it just "happened" to be on MSNBC, there are only a few explanations.

1) Night before, you were watching MSNBC before you turned off the TV;

2) Someone else in your household was watching MSNBC before turning off the TV the last time; or

3) Space aliens have taken over your TV and are spamming you with nonstop Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann.
