In 1964 [or 1965] our neighbour Colin Lowe, whose son was also called Colin migrated to the USA to run Tonka Toys.

My friend Colin used to have amazing toys. Being impoverished, I didn't have toys. We would get into his sandpit and do major civil engineering projects. We weren't thinking of it as mining. I suppose that had something to do with me becoming a civil engineer [albeit temporarily before oil then cyberspace].

Tonka Toys were very impressive to me.

Mr Lowe also had a fine engineering workshop in which he made miniature working railway engines and stuff.

A brother was Sammy and another Graham [whose twin died at birth or thereabouts]. Henry Wa tried to strangle Colin and I had to whack him with a broom to get him off. Ah the good old days. Maybe it was Low not Lowe. I should ask Google....
