Give up all hope for the short term. The tribal chiefs, the people connected by blood rather than by the nation-state. (region between Afghanistan and Pakistan) Places that were ran by the British -that got independence without war- were always left uningovernable on purpose, thus the mountain they have to climb. The religious, the miliatry that will lose power... That will take time. The Pakistanisn I met are not unreasonable people, I was positively impressed by them. I think they won't nosedive into failed state like South Africa. South africa is fucked up beyond repair.
