There are almost as many education systems in India as there are maharishis. Family is primary. Primary schools can range from non-existent or horrible to excellent. Then there are schools like St. Xavier's, Shantiniketan, IIMs and IITs.

Not sure that intellectual qualities are necessarily the product of educational infrastructure. Wiki University and Google University have certainly lowered the barriers to information for the digitally enabled.

The article tends to dwell on the wage arbitrage issue, which I agree, is not really paramount to maintaining growth. If it were, the US with stagnant or declining real wages would be much better positioned in the world economy.
