It has been articulated in very simple terms. We are there to prevent the terrorists from taking over. But that is subject to the counter-argument that there would be no such threat had we not gone into Iraq in the first place. What people don't understand is why we went there in the first place. The rationale was too focused on WMD and that is why most people believe we're there. No WMD has been found, and they don't comprehend there are other reasons for us to be there.
