Well, that's progress. Then you realize we're not going to find another Saudi Arabia off the coast of California....
You should also understand that the peak production curve shows production declining asymptotically. In that sense we will never run out of oil but we will not have enough on which to base our economy... They're still pulling up 10-20 barrels a day from old wells in Texas....I would guess a few barrels a day is available in Titusville, PA...

"Reaching "Peak oil" (either the historical fact of it in the US, or in theories about when it may happen for the world) does not imply "the vast majority of oil is gone", or "we will soon be out (or even almost out) of oil".

It does not imply that we will be totally out of oil (in your terms) but it sure does imply that we are on an asymptotic curve that is flattening out, ie approaching zero....
