I would rely on history to determine on where we are in the process of the unwinding of the credit bubble and the only examples we have in history are Finland in 1991, Japan in 1991, Norway in 1987, the S&L crisis and the great depression.

In every case it took between 8-11 years to go from extreme over leverage to extreme under leverage. We may be three years into the unwinding of the housing bubble, but we are just one year into the de-leveraging of the financial markets.
