This wouldn't work anyway, not for more than a few months. They would simply pool this money together and buy more bombs and guns.

Its $21,000,000, not $250,000,000. And when did $21 million become chicken feed. No wonder you guys are bad with the budget. YIKES!

I don't know how credible that claim is -- HOWEVER, if we are paying 70,000 people $300/month that's $250,000,000/year. Chickenfeed. If it is happening and it works, I have no problem whatsoever with it. A couple of points: 1. These are the former insurgents who were IEDing our soldiers. Isn't there some ethical issue with, essentially, paying them not to hurt us? Or rewarding them for hurting us in the past? 2. If you are buying loyalty, when you stop, the loyalty stops. Are we going to pay them forever? The Sunni welfare program? Hell, I bet $300 goes farther in Iraq than a lot of our senior's Social Security checks go in the US. 3. Finally, by the same logic, with all the $Billions we've spent in Iraq, why didn't we just buy off the country before hand? Probably could have saved a bunch of $'s and certainly a bunch of American lives.
