I remember one time they ran edwin moses (400ih) in the open 4 x 400 relay and he did very well. I think most 110 hhers would do quite well in the open 100. Gail Devers did both in top form.

Seems to me you are having difficulty with the concepts of same, similar, and different. These are the races/strokes/distances that are competed, on land, in water, in boats. There could be the 32 yard cartwheel event, but there is not. On some level, basketball and football and soccer and rugby are the same games, involving balls, real estate, sides, scoring, time. There is no particular reason to play one over the other, or all of them, or none of them, and yet people do. ARS
