It is pretty obvious that McCain was trying to limit the damage to the Republicans when he headed his investigation.

While I'm sure McCain would not have wanted to damage republicans (how often do you see the nitwit Waxman going after Dems?), I'm sure he took the investigation wherever it needed to go.

Honestly, I don't attach much significance to congressional investigations of any kind. With few exceptions (Watergate, for example) they are absolutely political events with no significance, whatsoever, other than the political implications.

If I were you I'd waste less time on the Left Wing Lunatic blogs. You'll find no truth there.
