Sources said hundreds of residents took out a protest procession, marching through main bazaar, reached Pesco office. Eyewitnesses said the angry protestors forced their entry into the Pesco office where they ransacked and burnt the furniture and official records. Policemen remained silent spectators and could not stop the protestors from destroying the furniture and records of Pesco office. Meanwhile, the enraged residents of Chota Lahore also staged a rally and blocked Swabi-Jehangira Road in protest against power loadshedding. Led by Haji Sher Aman, nazim Chota Lahore union council (East), the protesters marched to Chota Lahore bus stop on main Swabi-Jehangira Road and barricaded it for an hour for all kinds of traffic. Tehsil Chota Lahore Deputy superintendent of police and SDO Pesco rushed to the spot and held talks with the leaders of protesting residents. They assured Pesco would put a halt to the prolong loadshedding and try to ensure smooth supply of electricity to the area. After assurance from the officials, the protestors dispersed peacefully. Meanwhile, Muhammad Ali, President of Anjuman-e-Dokandaran, Tuesday announced to stage a protest demonstration against frequent power outages in the district headquarters today (Wednesday). He said loadshedding had badly affected trade activities in the district. It may be mentioned that four persons had injured when police and angry residents clashed after they ransacked the Pesco office in Zaida town against power suspension on Monday. The people gathered at the front of Zaida union council office and blocked Jehangira-Topi Road for all kind of traffic while chanting slogans against the Pesco. Later, the protesters, wielding sticks and chanting slogans against the power supply company, marched to the Zaida Pesco office in a big procession. Reaching there, they started pelting stones on the policemen who were deployed to protect the office. Four protestors were injured when police resorted to teargas shelling and baton-charge. Meanwhile, the residents blocked Swat-Buner Road on Tuesday for six hours against the long hours of loadshedding in the area. The protesters led by Darvesh, a social worker, were chanting slogans against the government and Pesco authorities. Later, the road was opened and demonstrators peacefully dispersed after the assurance by Inspector Sardar Hamid of Daggar police station. thenews.com.pk
