As with the WWII analogy, victory must be won before the rebuilding can begin. The Allies correctly rejected anything but unconditional surrender from the Germans. They knew that the evil had to be completely defeated before rebuilding could occur. I believe Obama will be the Marshall of our generation, this time rebuilding our nation from the ruin of the Bush years. Hyperbole? Many would disagree. The Bush years have been a hellish slide from a post Cold War America at the top if its game to the morally crippled, financially bankrupt, divided nation run by incompetent jingoists and sycophants. Cycle of life. There must be a death - that of the far right neocon ideology - before there can be a rebirth.
