Most guys who build stuff understand firsthand that "necessity is the mother of invention". Some, however, do come up with "solutions to which there are no known problems".

I think whathisname is on the right track - - it's a question of will he gain enough traction before he runs out of money. Until tooearly's "leap" in battery technology comes, "quick change" is a good approach. I guess you noted from the article that he'd hired a person from ISO, I think it was? Good move, that.

I liked your "bumper car" idea, it's just more infrastructure intensive and it takes all the fun out of driving on the shoulder. <g> It does seem more and more likely that we'll see some sort of Public Works scenario unfold. <ng>

I see the traction of his timing as being just about the right amount of slip to allow 200/250 oil before he becomes a market disruption.
