Biden will bring these "distractions" to Obama:

He's chairman of the Judiciary Cmte, therefore is he responsible for blocking votes on Bush's judicial nominees? how does that square with BO's "change" in WashDC mantra. Biden's also chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Cmte. He advocated American intervention in the Balkans and in Iraq, which begs the question whether the Dem ticket represents a straddle position on Iraq?

Joe masterminded the defeat of Supreme Court nominee Robert Bork in 1987. He famously botched the hearings for Clarence Thomas presiding over a spectacle, in Liberals eyes, that managed to confirm a deeply conservative judge. Repubs see that as a plus for Joe.

More negatives: Sen Biden supported the strongly anti-consumer 2005 bankruptcy law, although that was presumably a typical act of local political boosterism since Delaware is home to the credit card industry.

Biden's 1988 presidential bid ended quickly following revelations he'd plagiarized speeches from other famous politicians, and that he had a habit of exaggerating his past exploits. Will these transgressions resurface in the next few wks?
