Part of that whole "social contract" thing. Some people want to opt out of the politicians, some people want to opt out of the taxes for all the services they enjoy, etc.

I keep hoping that enough people will realize we are in this together and turn against the politics of ripping people to shreds. But it has a visceral Roman arena thrill that people enjoy. They want the emotional rush of crapping on one guy and deifying the other.

So they get conned over and over.
