"On this thread, I see no one but the left trying to question McCain's war record, Swiftvet-style."

Baloney.

He has had his flying record questioned. Which is pretty dubious, I might add. He wasn't at war with the three planes in question, so pulling a war record cloak over it is just blowing smoke. He has had his cross in the dirt story questioned. Which is pretty stinky when you look into it. bentway has brought up the fact he signed a "confession" as to war crimes and claims he made a similar video. The first, McCain has admitted. The second very well may exist. It wouldn't surprise me, everyone has a breaking point under torture.

I don't think it is right, but at least it is factual.

That isn't anywhere close to the Swiftboaters who you have supported.

And, frankly, McCain is overplaying his war record. The "sure, he has lots of houses but he was a POW!" defense was pretty much the last straw. His appearance at Saddleback where he didn't miss a chance to talk about being a POW was pretty far out there, too. Now, I understand you are trying to "nuance" his use of being a POW and Kerry bringing up he was a veteran...

Huh? Who here has been lying about McCain's war record? Ted was off by a plane, but who cares?

I personally don't give two craps about McCain's record, but if he is campaigning on the idea that his time as a POW makes him a war hero and thus makes him qualified to be President, and he actually wasn't much of a soldier, than it might be worth pointing out.

The VVAM are very different. Have you looked at their website? vietnamveteransagainstjohnmccain.com

They're trying to paint McCain as a Manchurian candidate who was brainwashed by the Vietnamese and willingly gave up state secrets. Lies. And they're the same people that Swift-boated Kerry. And what made "Swift-boating" "Swift-boating?" Lies. If the Swift-boaters had been telling the truth, I wouldn't have had much of a problem with them. Kerry campaigned on his war record, and that made it fair game. But they lied about him.

But VVAM ain't a bunch of liberals, and it's pretty rare that I see a liberal talking about them or citing them.
