Someone else pointed out Vietnam, which is the most obvious total disaster of our time. Also, the failed New Deal and Great Society programs -- particularly the Great Society, which is a mess after only 50 years (we've discussed the disaster that is SS, but you don't comprehend it and I don't want to discuss it with you since you are ignorant about it). But that's not it. By a long shot. Carter was a train wreck. Destroyed the country in 4 years, creating the highest misery index in history, allowing us to be totally overrun, ridiculed, humiliated by the Iranians -- which totally emboldened the terrorists, eventually leading to 9/11. 1979 was the ONLY time I've ever experienced the rationing of gasoline -- where we actually could buy gas on certain days only, and when we did, we would often have to sit in line for up to an hour. All under Carter. Under Clinton, it was worse. The country spent the last two years of the Clinton administration -- that is, 25% of his total term, on auto-pilot as Clinton was engaged in defending his abusive sexual assault of a near teenager. At least half of his eight years, in fact, were spent dealing with problems of his own creation -- from travelgate to trying to socialize health care, to file gate to suicides of WH officials to impeachment to lying under oath -- the whole thing. During this time, when he should have been responding to Iraqi belligerence, he was instead dealing with his own problems. Instead of seeking out and destroying bin Laden and AQ, he left them in place to set up the biggest attack ever experienced on American soil killing 3,000 innocents. I could go on. No Republican administration, even Ford or Nixon, has been anywhere near the disaster of the best Democrat administration -- not in our lifetimes. This is why I left the Democrat party behind. It failed at everything it ever tried to do after JFK. Just a total disaster -- fiscally as well as geopolitically.
