Honestly, I don't know. I certainly think he was going to win regardless of his choice. I would have liked to see him pick someone that I'd want as the Democratic nominee in 2016, but there wasn't anybody like that in the field. I don't place too much importance in the VP selection other than that. A VP might win you a state, but that hasn't happened in more than 40 years.

I don't love Biden, but he does have some plusses as a VP (he'll be an excellent hatchet man), and he's too old to run in 2016, so I'm OK with him.

What I do know is that Obama did pick the guy who will make the race the most entertaining over the next three months, and I'm grateful for that.
