And if we let regulators do more to stop these organizations that run us all off a cliff, we'll get crap from all the ideologues claiming we are blocking the magic of the market. It's like the hundreds of billions we spent cleaning up the messes in the past never happened. Even Sarbanes-Oxley got a lot of grief before the critics died down (when it was clear no one was going to back off on it, good thing too with companies having to go through all kinds of ugly writeoffs that shareholders deserve to know about). But the rhetoric seems to work much of the rest of the time.
