Yeah, not often, but every now and then. I recall one in '78 where the the hero of the time, Bill Rodgers, just held off a Californian, Jeff Wells, in the Boston Marathon. There was one in NYC in the late 80's or early 90's where two Kenyans were within a couple of seconds of each other. There have probably been more. The center of action is often at the London and Rotterdam marathons in the Fall, and I never hear any news from them. Of course, if I was still getting Runner's World or the like, I'd stay informed, but I'm out of touch these days.

Interesting marathon with the suicide pace and all. I didn't think any of them would hang in there.
