Only installing solar in GSM radio bases will take a lot of solar cells. The scramble to build in the past 10 years only enriched the diesel generators manufacturers.

A generator last max. 15.Africa, Caribbean, LATAM, Middle East it lasts max. 8.000 to 10.000 hours. Then you need to add other costs, visits to maintain, fuel pilferage.

To gie you an idea: MTN spends USD 5 million a month in Diesel in Nigeria.

If solar becomes widespread, operators would love to swap their diesel plants for solar.

I have been pushing this for this whole year.
