Z, > Without the image of him as a war hero, he has very little.

How can someone who supports Obama make a statement like this?

While we could go through the litany of what McCain has accomplished, there is no need. Because that litany is infinitely larger and infinitely more important than what Obama has accomplished, which is a big, fat zero.

This is insane. If a man wants to vote for someone with no qualifications, fine, go for it. But shit. Don't denigrate a man who has 1000x the lifetime of achievement of Obama. Just go vote for Obama if that makes you feel better.

Obama cannot possibly accomplish even a small fraction of what McCain has. Now, we may not like all of what McCain has done, but he has, by god, done more with his life than Obama has.

>I've never been a fan of McCain, but at least he has a very long and remarkable record as a "maverick moderate" in the Senate.

Well, he doesn't, really, but he does have the reputation of it. But he's clearly scrutinized less because of his war record, and I think he wouldn't really be exceptional among other Republican Senators without it.
