I believe you are wrong on China, Mish. China does not care about Beijing shopkeepers. Or that savvy business travelers avoided Beijing. (I remember canceling meetings/projects/travel anywhere near Atlanta weeks before, during or weeks after that one). Or that the Olympics caused nearby Beijing (that caused other plants to shut down) businesses to shut down to reduce pollution. This alone should cause a downturn for Chinese business.

The Chinese are going to strut around for a while.

If they really want to recoup their financial losses they will invade/occupy some nearby country. Like Taiwan, that other China. Than they will go North for natural resources. Probably visit Japan for some payback.
