"Yes, I think we should defend Georgia and Ukraine."

Finally.

So you were lying when you accused me of lying.

So much for character.

I don't think we should fight for Georgia and the Ukraine. We have no compelling interest there worth the costs.

In the case of Georgia, they made a stupid move. I find it interesting that you don't think we should help citizens who are in trouble with their mortgages because they didn't plan well, and we should spend even more money and lives bailing out a country who was orders of magnitude more irresponsible than any homeowner or group of homeowners.

Ok, here is a scenario. Baja decides that Mexico is not where they want to be. They declare independence. Mexico counters by sending in their troops. We, in the interest of protecting the US ex-pats who live there, declare that to be genocide and force a ceasefire with US and Mexican troops to enforce it. We build closer and closer ties, even to the point of issuing passports citizens there who want them. While that is going on, Mexico joins a cartel with Russia for selling their oil. Their military starts coordinating with theirs, getting training and some equipment. Finally, one night, they launch an attack on Baja to bring them back to the fold. Russia makes noises about supporting their little brown brothers...

What do you think should be done?
