Ann: "Are you saying you're intolerant with your family and friends?..where's your empathy?" koan; it has nothing to do with tolerance or empathy except to women, minorities and gays. Racism is very hurtful. If I saw a family member beating up someone, I sure as hell would step in. And racism is the same as beating up someone. It is among the worst of crimes. And yes, my mother and I put all family members on notice that we would tolerate no racist jokes in our presence. Many of my family members are racists and I do not speak with them.
