There were similar programs in Cambodia, USSR, China, etc., but they used mass murder to dumb-down their masses. They killed millions, including teachers and professionals, and even murdered those who could read, or wore glasses, in order to dumb down their countries so that the left-wing despots could rule the ignorant masses.
