I don't dispute anything you just said. However, despite all that, the point is that it still makes good sense from an econ 101 perspective to continue with and even expand our tax subsidies of the alternative energy industry.

BTW, I'm against a windfall profits tax on the oil & gas industry, much less any other company. That's a bad idea. But I am for an immediate cessation of all subsidies for oil & gas companies. That's a good idea, since they are a mature industry and profitable on their own without them.
